People first. Homes second. Empathy always.

At bpha, we know that keeping a home isn’t always easy. Life happens — and when it does, the right support can make all the difference.

That’s where our Tenancy Sustainment Officers come in.

This role is all about people. You’ll work closely with customers who are facing complex challenges, helping them stay safe, secure, and supported in their homes. If you’re someone who leads with empathy, listens without judgement, and wants to make a real difference every day, this could be the role for you.

What the role is really about

You’ll support customers who need a bit more help to manage their tenancy — often because of things like mental health challenges, substance misuse, safeguarding concerns, or other life pressures.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with customers
  • Take time to understand what’s going on in their lives
  • Create practical, person‑centred support plans
  • Help manage tenancy issues before they become crises
  • Work alongside colleagues and partner organisations so customers get joined‑up support
  • Keep an eye on risk, safeguarding and wellbeing — and act quickly when something doesn’t feel right

It’s a varied role, sometimes challenging, but incredibly rewarding.

Transferable skills welcome

We’re keen to hear from people who have experience supporting individuals with complex needs, building trust, managing risk, and helping others make positive changes in their lives.

If you’re used to working in a person‑centred way, handling safeguarding concerns, and supporting people through challenging situations, many of your skills will transfer really well into this role.

Experience in housing, tenancy support or neighbourhood‑based roles would be beneficial, but it isn’t essential. We’re happy to support the right person to learn the housing side of the role.

Who we’re looking for

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Genuinely care about people and treat everyone with respect
  • Are a good listener and clear communicator
  • Can stay calm and supportive in difficult situations
  • Are organised enough to manage a busy caseload
  • Feel confident working independently but enjoy being part of a team
  • Understand the importance of boundaries, safeguarding and doing the right thing

If you already have housing or tenancy‑related experience, that’s a bonus — but your values, empathy and approach to people matter most.

You’ll also need:

  • A full driving licence and access to your own car
  • Flexibility to travel across bpha communities

Our values matter here

At bpha, our values guide how we work every day:

  • We take responsibility – we do what we say we’ll do
  • We show empathy – we listen, respect and understand
  • We’re better together – we support each other and work as one
  • We’re ambitious – we’re always looking for better ways to help
